Clean tech company secures Suite 8 at The Jeffreys Building at St John’s Innovation Park

Cambridge, 22 September 2022:
St John’s College is delighted to welcome Cambridge GaN Devices (CGD) to St John’s Innovation Park, the most established technology and R&D hub outside of the city centre.

A spin-out of Cambridge University, CGD is a fabless semiconductor company that develops a range of energy-efficient GaN-based power devices to make greener electronics possible.

More than doubling the size of its previous facilities to 3,950 sq ft, the relocation accommodates CGD’s continued growth and recruitment drive and places it at the heart of the North Cambridge tech cluster.

Operating at a market worth exceeding $30 billion, CGD completed its $9.5M Series A fundraising last year and was subsequently awarded the UK Business Angels Association ‘Deep Tech Investment of the Year’ and named ‘Tech Scaleup of the Year’ in green electronics by Business Weekly.

Dr. Giorgia Longobardi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, CGD, said: “Collaboration and innovation are core pillars of the way we work. Being part of a wider campus of like-minded companies focussed on pioneering R&D was hugely attractive and a big part of our choice to locate ourselves at St John’s Innovation Park. We are also drawn to the Park’s location, outdoor space and its commitment to improving the ESG footprint of the office environment. Within our new office space, we hope to share our unique identity with our many visitors and partners that will accompany us in this exciting scale-up phase. ”

Suzie Wood, Investment Property Manager, St John’s College, added: “St John’s College is committed to improving sustainability, so we’re particularly delighted to welcome Cambridge GaN Devices to the Park, a company developing ingenious green solutions for everyday electronics, respecting our planet’s natural resources, and creating a more sustainable future for the generations to come.”

The official office opening will be marked with an early evening celebration involving the CGD team, its board, investors and other guests at The Jeffreys Building - an impressive three storey headquarters building commanding a key position on St John’s Innovation Park - today.

CGD is currently recruiting for a wide range of roles in Cambridge. Visit www.camgandevices.com to find out more.
