Sandoz joins Energize Program to support suppliers in decarbonization efforts

Thu, May 2, 2024

Sandoz, the global leader in generic and biosimilar medicines, has today announced that it is joining the Energize Program as a sponsor.

Energize is a first-of-its-kind program fostering collaboration between leading pharmaceutical companies and their suppliers to mitigate the overall environmental impact of the industry.

The program provides suppliers of any size and at any stage of their efforts to reduce carbon emissions with access to sustainability expertise and renewable electricity education at no extra cost – helping them to take concrete steps towards decarbonization.

As a sponsor of the program, Sandoz will work to offer all suppliers access to these resources – supporting these companies to reduce their own operational Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions, which in turn will help Sandoz to drive down emissions generated by its supply chain (Scope 3). This supports a key pillar of our environmental commitments in engaging with suppliers to encourage ESG best practices. These efforts will build on other recent sustainability announcements, including the formal submission of a Commitment Letter to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).

At Sandoz, we have a clear Purpose: pioneering access for patients. We support that work through strong corporate governance and a focus on sustainable operations. This helps to make Sandoz a great place to work. Beyond engaging with suppliers, Sandoz’s environmental commitments include a focus on decarbonization, responsible water and waste management, and improvements in packaging and materials. More information about our commitments is available in our Annual Report.
